there are sixteen tablespoons in a cup
now that is a knowledge i can use
i’ve no use for the wisdom of oak trees
or the way the oceans fist the shore
or the way on some nights
when the air is clear those gelid
winter nights when andromeda smirks
in the periphery too opalescent
to take face on or the way
a meteor burns like the torches
of a failed rebellion
i’ve no use for them
and the measures that assuage
no hunger

We pine for the idea and use of logic, but then we must chase after the emotional metaphors and nature. Only poets, am I right or am I right? 😁
A brilliant poem with an excellent meaning entwined. The message is impactful and it really goes to show how much we are influenced by emotion a bit more than pure logic alone.
Thanks Lucy, I think a purely logical existence would be boring indeed.
