To love —
unscrew your head,
set that on a tarp. To love,
remove your spleen, pancreas
and bile ducts. Remove your liver
then lay down your arms. Now,
as a sagging torso on two stout legs
approach her in all your frailty: gutted,
mindless, lain out for reassembly.
