Apollo

First the nose — the head,
the arm, next the toe. Piece
by piece, until phallus
and vulva remain — until torso.

Until liver and lung —
until kidney and spleen,
pancreas —
until hammer

And the stone hearts
of old gods peen
against tile and beat
not one beat more.
