Rain

Some trees
turn their leaves
when it rains — belly up.

Sugar maple
takes it on the skull, lacking
an umbrella or similar device.

And while parasol
falls from the same tongue,
it offers a differing shade.

Several dogs yelped
while thunder clapped
— ran inside.

So much for the morning.
Too much
for clouds and coffee.
